Three members of Christ
Presbyterian Academy’s girls’ varsity basketball team reached the 1,000-point scoring
mark between January 10 and January 24, 2012.
Junior guard Meredith
Roman scored the 1,000th point of
her high-school career January 10 vs. Maplewood. Junior post player Faith
LeGate scored her 1,000th point
January 23 vs. Martin Luther King. Senior guard Emily
Boyd scored her 1,000th point January
24 at East Literature.
“The fact that three of
our players have reached the 1,000-point milestone within a two-week period
this season exemplifies just how important total team effort is for CPA
basketball,” Head Coach Becky LeGate said.
The Lions (20-3, 10-0
10-AA) are ranked #7 in the Midstate among all girls’ teams.
“To be successful on the
court,” Coach LeGate said, “we know it takes not only scoring but teammates who
are selfless and willing to distribute the basketball to each other, as well as
setting screens, rebounding, and playing great team defense to create
opportunities for players like Emily, Faith and Meredith to score. As we
recognize each of them for the individual dedication and hard work that it took
to reach this achievement, we also celebrate the accomplishments as a reflection
of our entire group of players giving their all for the good of the team. We
are extremely blessed to have such a gifted and unselfish team.”
